SAMPLE CASE SUMMARIES
The following are selected project case summaries taken from a sample of international hospital clients.
- Under contract with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Government of Japan, and the Battelle Memorial Institute, a comprehensive analysis was prepared of the application of computerized technologies in the field of health care in the USA, with emphasis on hospitals. The project included visits by Japanese officials to sites and hospitals in the US featuring these applications, and visits by US personnel to hospitals in Japan desiring to use these applications.
- Under sub-contract with a private consulting firm, MSH, Boston, the World Bank and the Ministry of Health, Government of Nicaragua, a program to implement a system of selected cost recovery in government owned hospitals was designed.
- Under sub-contract with the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, and the Ministry of Health, Dominican Republic, a series of action plans and programs were developed and documented, intended to form the basis for implementing a comprehensive program of hospital and health system reform of selected government hospitals in that country.
- Under sub-contract with the Inter-American Development Bank and the Ministry of Health, Government of El Salvador, a series of programs were developed and documented pertaining to reform of the health sector, with emphasis on selected government owned pilot hospitals.
- Under sub-contract with the Inter-American Development Bank and the Ministry of Health, Government of Guatemala, a series of initiatives were designed and documented calling for the recovery of certain categories of cost in selected government owned pilot hospitals.
- Under sub-contract with both the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank and the Ministry of Health, Government of Nicaragua, technical assistance was provided in support of a comprehensive program of government hospital modernization. The program was initiated in a total of 5 pilot hospitals. A series of management modules were initiated including management reform, quality improvement, computerized information systems, and facility equipment and infrastructure modernization, among others.
